Reports say, a consortium of contractors seem to have dug a 160 meters of the section “Alsos Veikou – Goudi” in the wrong direction, right under a busy city artery in Athens, Elliniko Metro, the company which oversees the project, is said to have been monitoring the construction "7/24`, making such such a thing did not happen. But it did. And how it did is everyone's question which has not yet been answered.
After all, there is said to be a risk of subsidence.

Construction of the Athens Metro New Line 4, Section A’ “Alsos Veikou – Goudi”
On the occasion of the publication in the electronic press of the letter addressed by ELLINIKOMETROS.A. to the Joint Venture responsible for the Construction of the Metro Line 4 and the comments that followed, ELLINIKO METRO S.A. hereby issues the following statement:
The top priority of the Company is the safety of all employees and citizens during the execution of its projects. For this purpose, as far as the boring activities performed under Kanellopoulou Street, at the location of the GNA Hospital are concerned, a comprehensive Geomechanical and Structural Monitoring System has been installed, in viewof monitoring- on a 24-hour basis – any subsidence of overlying and adjacent structures, so that, if required, all necessary measures can be introduced. Todate, measurements are within the limits imposed by the approved detailed final designs, and there is no safety issue.
