Glasgow's subway tunnels are so old (123y) that, contractors hit problems installing new signalling equipment for new driverless trains. Result is, delays -even before trains start running- until 2021, admits the operator Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) for the £200 million project.

I don't think Glasgow metro is going to enlarge its tunnels but since it was mentioned:
