Political party CDU in Hamburg wants to take the traffic on Willy-Brandt street underground and make the current street a promenade with pedestrian walks and a road for local traffic. On Wednesday a proposal was presented to accomodate the six-lane main traffic artery which separates the city center from the historic part.
