Hwangbangsan Mountain is between Jeonju city and western new town. Jeonbuk Research Institute first proposed in 2012 this tunnel. Plan is to split traffic between two sides with tunnels. Construction cost 17 billion won.

KBS News write it is again talked because it was number one in agenda of elected politician.

It is contreversial tunnel. People afraid that tunnel will collect traffic from surrounding roads. It will make matters worse. Possible environment damage is not fully assessed.
Jeonju City is negative on tunnel but will look into it if politicians want.
