In an article published in Stavanger Aftenblad, local community leaders disputed the opinions of the Ernst & Young (E&Y) that Rogfast tunnel project could be economically infieasible with ferry competition.

Community leaders dispute this, saying that continued ferry competition is not realistic because it bets on access to older ships and commuters would not choose shorter travel times. They predict that the environmental constraints will get stricter in time. Within a decade from now, there may be a zero-emission requirement for the ferries which will increase the costs of ferry operators sharply. They add, unlike the ferry commuting, there will be no 'bad weather' closures with the tunnel commute.

The article also emphasizes the risks of comparing the Rogfast with the Ryfast tunnel where ferry operations still possible.

As you can see, the ferry opposition to Rogfast tunnel construction will go until the last moment.
