Namhae - Yeosu Subsea Tunnel become strongly possible
Subsea tunnel will make construction 1/3rd cheaper for road between Yeosu and Namhae in Korea. Plans were cancelled because bridge was too expensive. Now Gnneew write tunnel come as cheap alternative and make project possible again.
In alternative plan there is a tunnel which is under water for 4.2 km and in land for 1.73 km. Together with connecting roads cost estimate 50 billion won. There is a preliminary feasibility report by Korea Institute for Public Finance and Finance and other researchers write Gnnews.

The Submarine Tunnel Promotion Committee plans to establish a joint response system with the government, increase the level of interest among the military, and take the lead in signatory movements.
Signature campaign start for Namhae-Yeosu submarine tunnel
The submarine tunnel is currently undergoing a comprehensive preliminary feasibility study. After 2nd preliminary feasibility study, policy evaluation and regional balanced development will follow.
The Namhae-Yeosu submarine tunnel construction project is to bore a 5.93km (4.2km submarine, 1.1km land) tunnel under the sea connecting the Route 77 between Sindeok-dong, Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam, and Seomyeon in Namhae-gun, Jeollanam-do.
It is one of the President's regional pledge projects, with an estimated project cost of about 630 billion won. Travel time reduce from 90 minutes to 10 minutes.
