Italian district of Ticino may be warming up to the idea of a new tunnel Vallemaggia and Leventina. The original idea of a 7km long base tunnel between Fusio and Rhodes had been rejected because of cost concerns. In mid-June it had been announced that a high altitude tunnel would be favoured. Or a cable car. The idea is still in early phases.
