To reduce the costs (of the estimated NOK 900 million for one tube and NOK 2,2b for twin tube), it is necessary to change the regulation of the Volda tunnel and that process will not be conclude  until 2022 earliest says Norway's Minister of Transport and Communications Knut Arild Hareide, in an article published in Møre.

The proposed Volda tunnel is a road tunnel on E39 between Volda and Furene in Volda municipality on Sunnmøre in Møre og Romsdal. The tunnel is expected to reduce the current length of Volda and Furene from 6.5 km to 3.5 km long.
