According to Diario Uno, the mayor adopts more diplomatic approach in promoting the tunnel. Unlike the like the Argentine delegation with Governor Rodolfo Suarez and President Alberto Fernández who visited Chile without the invitation of Chilean government.
The planned tunnel connect the South of Mendoza in argentina with the Chilean region of O'Higgins through the Las Leñas Pass. Current soil studies of Austrian company is financed by the Chilean government to determine the route of the tunnel.
