According to Stiridecluj .ro, Romania Minister of Transport, Lucian Bode announced that 62 construction companies have shown interest in Billion Euro (800 million euro without VAT) project. Minister says he is convinced project will get 10-15 offers.

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Management (CNAIR) tender for Meseș tunnel is part of the Poarta Sălajului - Nușfalău section The section has 62 km, and the bids will be submitted from February 19. It will be longest tunnel in Romania. 2.4 km-long Meseș tunnel will be twin-tube in each direction two lanes. There is much more than the Meseș tunnel in this tender of course: highway, many (65) viaducts, bridges etc.

Meseș tunnel tunnel will be 2.4 km-long. In each direction will have two lanes. It  will cross the Meseş Mountains at an altitude of 400 meters, near the city of Zalău.

Stiridecluj .ro reported that according to Adevărul. ro minister said "The pre-qualification means that the first 6 will be selected based on the experience in tunnels made in the European Union, in the execution of bridges, of the turnover - which must be of at least one billion euros, also to have equipment in property. After completing these procedures, in about 60 days the submitted bids will be analyzed, and the first six will be invited to submit the binding offers - technical and financial. There will probably be 30 days for submitting bids, another 60 days for evaluating bids. In at least six months, without appeals, we could have a design and execution contract for the Poarta Sălajului-Nuşfalău section ".

The work is expected completion in 36 months, hopefully finish 2024-end.
