After starting construction, contractor for Zojila Tunnel wants alternate alignment
Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL) wants to change the alignment of the Zojila Tunnel. The reasoning of MEIL is location of the west portal. Reportedly it falls in the avalanche and debri fall area.
New alignment proposed is 1.2km shorter.
