NTB Norway Nye Veier 7 tenders in 2022

Norwegian company Nye Veier AS (a state limited company wholly-owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport) announces that 2022 will be the record investment year in roads and tunnels. Of the 7 tenders planned for 2022, 5 of them have tunnels in them.

Their announcement has been made on 19 January.

Seven new tenders for 15 billion from Nye Veier

2022 will be a record year for new tenders from Nye Veier. Seven renders come to market during the year. These tenders mean great opportunities for the construction industry across the country. Large variation from 200 million kroner to about five billion in size provides opportunities for many. The total value of the tenders is estimated at NOK 15 billion.

The company has never had more tenders in the market. The economic volume has never been greater than in 2022.

    - We will use our role as a purchaser to ensure that we reach our strategic priorities. We will create more for the money, together with the contractors we will show clear social responsibility and we will take a strong ownership of health, environment and safety. The biggest difference from previous contracts is the expectation that the suppliers will make a strong contribution to making the projects as sustainable as possible, says Anette Aanesland, who is CEO of Nye Veier.

New Roads will challenge and renew Norwegian transport by moving borders and creating change. The tenders and contracts under the auspices of Nye Veier have changed how more people now carry out their tenders. That work continues.

    - We have listened to important input from suppliers. Therefore, we move away from the client's maximum price, we adjust how we carry out the tenders and we get a larger spread in the size of the contracts, Aanesland explains.

The first tenders take place during the first quarter, and the seven tenders are spread throughout the year.

The tenders come to the market after the zoning plans for the sections have been adopted by the municipalities. The projects must provide good achievement of the goals set for the project. New Roads must be covered in the budgets to carry out the tenders.

New Roads is now moving away from the client's maximum price for all projects.

    - We have made some experiences ourselves, and contractors and consultants have shared their experiences. We believe the changes we are now making will provide more bidders for important tenders. It is important to create more value for the same resources. Now there will be negotiations, and the goal is, among other things, to reduce the risk for the provider and for Nye Veier, explains Bjørn Børseth, director of contract and market.

New Roads will continue to use turnkey contracts with a fixed price. The contracts must be based on an approved zoning plan. Requirements for function rather than detailed requirements lists are still central to using the competence best with the contractors. There are still important incentives for the contractors to make the projects even better.
