Democratic Party of Korea distance itself from presidential candidate's Jeju island undersea tunnel promise
Democratic party decided to take back its Jeju Island subsea tunnel promise.
On 23 January Democratic Party presidential election candidate Lee Jae-myung said he build a undersea railway tunnel from mainland Korea to Jeju island. Wit this a KTX high speed train from Seoul to Jeju in 2 hour and 30 minute.
This his talk on 23 January:
But Jeju Island people reacted. They don't like fixed connect to mainland. They are afraid their island loose identity. Therefore now Democratic party say it is not in election promise now. It is something long term if there is consensus in future.
The Jeju Provincial Party issued an apology to the residents, saying, “It was an act of ignoring the residents by focusing only on counting votes,”
