The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) will negotiate with five contractors on the first of three large tunnel contracts on Rogfast from Mekjarvik to Kvitsøy.

Eight contractors participated in the qualification to advance in the competition. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration announced the contract at the end of November 2021.

These are the companies that are qualified and selected to participate further in the competition are the following suppliers:

    • AF Gruppen Norge AS
    • Consortium of Hæhre Entreprenør AS, LNS AS and Risa AS
    • Consortium of Implenia Norge AS and Stangeland Maskin AS
    • China Communications Construction Co., Ltd.
    • Marti Tunnel AG
    • Marti and AF Gruppen each built their own part of the Ryfast tunnel, while Implenia was part of the Eiganes tunnel.

    Extensive work

Extensive and demanding work awaits now to choose the best of five contractors. The deadline for submitting the first offer is 18.05.22

Project manager Oddvar Kaarmo is very pleased with the interest in Rogfast in the market.

    - The five selected contractors appear to be relatively similar based on the submitted documentation. We now hope for a good process with negotiations until the final signing of a contract with the selected provider, says Kaarmo.

    Construction starts before Christmas

The E03 contract is the first of the three major contracts to build the world's longest and deepest underwater tunnel between Mekjarvik in the south to Bokn in the north. The plan is to start construction towards the end of 2022

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration will announce the second of the three major Rogfast contracts, E04, already at the end of February / beginning of March. The last major contract, E02, will be announced during 2023. The progress for E15 on Kvitsøy will affect the time when the competitive basis for E02 is laid out in the market.
