A new 8,7 kilometre tunnel will construct to house Hà Nội - Hoàng Mai urban railway. Almost all urban railway in this route will go underground tunnels. 7 Underground stations will construct along new tunnel. VTV say Hà Nội Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) inform about this.

MRB and their consultant says Hà Nội geology is weak. It is difficult geology for underground works with uneven ground, soft soil layers, groundwater and surface water. Therefore MRB and their consultant choose TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) method for tunnel making.
