On March 29, the 3.36m diameter EPB TBM supplied by CREG achieved its launching in the sewerage tunnel project, marking a new era of TBM construction in Macau as this is the first time that a TBM has be employed for tunnel construction in Macau.

The tunnel alignment travels through mud and fill layer with a total length of 2.3 km. Faced with a few difficulties like R50 small curve, demanding settlement control and etc., CREG has incorporated innovation to the TBM to improve its adaptability and reliability. Completion of the project will greatly improve local sewerage capacity so as to solve the problem of sea water pollution by sewage overflow.
