First Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) start to bore at Genting Tunnel. Tunnel belongs East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project. It is half-half joint venture of Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and China Communications Construction Co Ltd (CCCC).

TBM is made in China Tunnel Boring Machine. China made many advancements in TBM design and manufacture.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said construction work on the ECRL project has booked overall progress of 30% as of May this year. It increase to 37% in the end of 2022.
