The actions are aimed at regenerating and modernizing the traffic and road conditions of the Rabo de Sartén, Contreras, Lourdes, Puerto de Castellón, Casas Bajas 1 and Casas Bajas 2 tunnels on the A-3, N-3, CS-22 and N-330.

The works will be financed from the PRTR, which has 357 million euros to adapt the infrastructures to European regulations and improve the protection of fauna and vulnerable users.

08-07-2022 The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has formalized, for 2.25 million euros (with VAT), the modernization and improvement works of the Rabo de Sartén tunnel, on the A-3 motorway, of the tunnel of Contreras, on the N-3 highway, from the Lourdes and Puerto de Castellón tunnels, on the CS-22 motorway, and from the Casas Bajas 1 and Casas Bajas 2 tunnels, on the N-330 highway, in the provinces of Valencia and Castellon.

The actions, included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and financed with the NextGenerationEU funds, are aimed at reinforcing the road, safety and circulation conditions of the Valencian Community infrastructures.

Although the tunnels currently have favorable operating conditions, it is necessary to carry out this action to adapt their facilities in line with the provisions of the Royal Decree on minimum safety requirements for tunnels of the trans-European road network.

The PRTR has a budget of 357 million euros to adapt the tunnels to European regulations and to promote the protection of fauna and vulnerable users. Specifically, it will finance actions in tunnels of the State Highway Network (RCE) focused on improving emergency exits, signage, beaconing, lighting, ventilation, electrical installation, fire protection, drainage, communication or traffic management, etc.
