In the north, in the construction sites of the Terzo Valico dei Giovi-Nodo di Genova, a project that involves more than 2,300 companies, works in August concentrate mainly on two different activites relating to the Genoa junction. Preparatory activities are planned for the expansion of a section of the Facchini Tunnel, the first tunnel of the Nodo coming from the north; the expansion will allow the transit of trains carrying new generation containers from the Port of Genoa.
