    Job Introduction

    In general, the Tunnel Engineer's position is to support the tunnel technical services team in preparation for tunnelling, both TBM and SCL. In particular this will consist of:

    • Assisting with the preparation of tunnelling procedures for both TBM and SCL tunnels
    • Assisting with the management of the works associated with the ground movement assessments and associated mitigation measures

    The role will report to the Lead Tunnel Engineering Manager.

    Role Responsibility

    • Assisting with the development of the DTAP process, including the procedure for the management of SRG meetings, the relevant escalation process and the production of the DTAP sheets.
    • Providing tunnelling input into settlement mitigation works required along the route and ensuring that any constraints or requirements are captured in the DTAP process.
    • Being the focal point between the various 3rd  parties / utilities teams and the tunnel delivery team, ensuring that 3rd party approvals are actioned.
    • Having an input into the drafting of the Monitoring Action Plans and input into other engineering management documentation for the various tunnel drives.
    • Ensuring that engineering aspects of tunnel management are captured in the programme.
    • Engineering review / sign off of technical submissions.

    The Ideal Candidate

    • · Engineering Degree/HNC or similar in a construction discipline
    • -Tunneling construction or tunnel engineering ·
    • Good understanding of tunnelling processes and geotechnical principles,
    • SCL tunnelling knowledge
    • · Knowledge of construction techniques and best practice · Understanding of Engineering Principles
    • · Computer competence (MS Word, Excel).
    • · Technical knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) software
