Brazil: Port Authority of Santos visits tunnel construction site in Guangzhou, China
APS, the Port Authority of Santos visits a tunnel construction site in China which is similar to the Santos-Guarujá connection.
In this visit it was proven that 97 year dream is possible. A tunnel of about a kilometer long, connecting the two banks of the channel that divides the city of Guangzhou, China, is in full construction. Dozens of these tunnels are already in use by the Chinese. It is a work that has similar characteristics of the long-awaited Santos-Guarujá tunnel, that the federal and state governments will make to connect both banks of the port of Porto de Santos.
Exactly this construction site in China was known by the Santos Port Authority (APS). President Anderson Pomini walked, on Tuesday (06/04) by the Die Seco where the four concrete blocks that will be seated under the bottom of the channel are being manufactured. In this visit, it was shown that the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, expected, 97 years ago, is a possible dream.
Two large concrete structures, each one hundred meters long, more than nine meters high and 30 wide, are side by side, in the construction site, allowing the entrance and exit of the tunnel. The huge concrete pieces are being sealed and almost ready to be wrapped in the waters of the canal with the opening of the floodgate and towed in floating.
“Impresses the size of the concrete pieces and the technique applied. It was the feeling of seeing that everything we put on the paper, on the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, was there, already being done, ”said Pomini, after a visit to the site, accompanied by engineers and workers.
Another module, already completed, floats in the channel in front of the construction site, waiting for the others, as shown to the team of the port of Santos the viability of each stage of the construction.
When ready, the four modules of this Chinese tunnel, which will be 430 meters long, will be seated on the channel bed and properly covered by special material.
The tunnel that is being made in China is just one of many, in different sizes, which are already in use and have received the same conception and technology in the eastern country.
More than 300 workers work on site. A group of them, along with the Chinese engineers, took pictures with the president of the Santos Port Authority.
Pomini sought an immersed tunnel under construction in China during this official visit. He then had the opportunity to get to know the details of the work closely, both discussed in more than 20 meetings of the tunnel committee and in the three public hearings.
“The immense work is there, at a rapid pace, proving that it is possible to make the Santos -Guarujá tunnel, now, in a partnership between the Federal Government's port and airports -with the participation of the Santos port authority -and the government From the state of São Paulo, ”said the president, who continues on a mission in China, accompanying Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and several ministers.

Nesta visita ficou provado que sonho de 97 anos é possível
Um túnel de cerca de um quilômetro de extensão, ligando as duas margens do canal que divide a cidade de Guangzhou, na China, está em plena construção. Dezenas destes túneis já estão em uso pelos chineses. É uma obra que tem características similares do tão esperado túnel Santos-Guarujá, que os governos federal e estadual farão para conectar as duas margens do canal de navegação do Porto de Santos.
Exatamente este canteiro de obras, na China, foi conhecido pela Autoridade Portuária de Santos (APS). O presidente Anderson Pomini caminhou, nesta terça-feira (04/06) pelo dique seco onde estão sendo fabricados os quatro blocos de concreto que serão assentados sob o fundo do canal. Nesta visita, ficou demonstrado que o túnel Santos-Guarujá, esperado, há 97 anos, é um sonho possível.
Duas grandes estruturas em concreto, cada uma com cem metros de comprimento, mais de nove metros de altura e 30 de largura, estão lado a lado, no canteiro de obras, permitindo viabilizar a entrada e saída do túnel. As enormes peças em concreto estão sendo vedadas e quase prontas para serem envolvidas pelas águas do canal com a abertura da comporta e rebocadas em flutuantes.
“Impressiona o tamanho das peças de concreto e a técnica aplicada. Foi a sensação de ver que tudo que colocamos no papel, sobre o túnel Santos-Guarujá, estava ali, já sendo realizado”, afirmou Pomini, após visita ao local, acompanhado por engenheiros e trabalhadores.
Outro módulo, já concluído, flutua no canal em frente ao canteiro de obras, à espera dos demais, como se mostrasse à equipe do Porto de Santos a viabilidade de cada etapa da construção.
Quando estiverem prontos, os quatro módulos deste túnel chinês, que terá 430 metros de extensão imersos, serão assentados no leito do canal e devidamente cobertos por material especial.
O túnel que está sendo feito na China é apenas um dos muitos, em tamanhos diferentes, que já estão em uso e que receberam a mesma concepção e tecnologia no país oriental.
Mais de 300 operários trabalham no local. Um grupo deles, junto com os engenheiros chineses, tirou fotos com o presidente da Autoridade Portuária de Santos.
Pomini procurou um túnel imerso em construção na China, durante esta visita oficial. Teve, então, a oportunidade de conhecer de perto os detalhes da obra, tanto discutidos em mais de 20 reuniões da Comissão do Túnel e nas três audiências públicas.
“A imensa obra está lá, em ritmo acelerado, provando que é possível fazer o túnel Santos-Guarujá, agora, numa parceria entre o Ministério de Portos e Aeroportos do Governo Federal – com a participação da Autoridade Portuária de Santos -, e o Governo do Estado de São Paulo”, afirmou o presidente, que continua em missão na China, acompanhando o vice-presidente Geraldo Alckmin e diversos ministros.
