Germany - Turkey: The rise of Turkish construction companies could give German construction companies access to large projects as subcontractors

Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) has an excellent analysis of Turkish construction companies. In the first eight months of 2024, Turkish construction companies abroad achieved a project value of 11 billion US dollars (US$). GTAI underlines that Turkish companies climb in food chain as a trend continues and get high value large projects with 76 million in average project value.

43 Turkish construction companies made it into the prestigious Engineering News Record (ENR) Top 250 Construction Companies list with 6 in top 100 and one in top 50. Quite an achievement. We are already familiar with Gulermak, Enka, Yapi Merkezi, Rönesans, Cengiz but it seems there are many more. For example I did not know that there was also a Turkish company called Limak. It is written that this company is building TBM tunnels for Saudi Arabia's 'The Vault' project near more famous Neom project.

Turkish companies are not only big in bare construction but GRAI writes 8 Turkish engineering firms made into ENR's "Top 225 International Design Firms" based on their foreign business. Never heard of NKY Architecture Engineering, Euro Consult for Engineering Consultancy, Proyapi Engineering, Yüksel Proje, Temelsu etc, but then it is my ignorance, I guess.

This presents opportunities with the specialized high-tech German companies to get a `taste` of the cake acting as subcontractors for Turkish companies. Turkey is a traditional trading partner of Germany. There have been strong relations between two countries for over more than a century.

I think GTAI article is very good and worth a serious reading:
