The president of Smat, Paolo Romano, had announced it during the meeting of the Environment Commission. The new large sewage collector will serve Turin and municipalities of the metropolitan city. The TBM will gradually advance with the excavation, until it is mounted in depth for its entire length equal to 163 meters, with three excavation shifts and will proceed 20 meters per day. It is a strategic structure, fundamental for the new generations, able to guarantee the environment and the quality of the water resource, it underlined Romano. The new collector will allow to put out the only one currently existing and will allow maintenance. The collector system will perform the function of lamination of rain flow rates and therefore mitigation of the effects of climate change. The works will last three years.
