Australia: North East Link tunnelling stops after TBM hits a sinkhole

The Tunnel Boring Machine hitting a deep sinkhole last night brings the tunnelling to halt at Melbourne's 26 Billion dollar project. No injuries to workers, reported. Engineers will be filling the sinkhole before the TBM can continue its work. Opposition politicians ask for an investigation.

Dubbed "the missing link", the "the 6.5km North East Link tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen will fix the missing link in Melbourne's freeway network, take 15,000 trucks off local roads a day and reduce travel times by up to 35 minutes.".
