One kilometer part of the 4,5 km long tunnel for new subway line Linea 3 has been excavated. Roughly 21% advance rate. With this progress, the tunnel has reached under the tunnel. Tunnel will be 65 meters below canal water bed.

The 13.5 meter in diameter tunnel is being constructed by underwater tunnel specialist China Railway Tunnel Group (CRTG) from China. Total length of Linea 3 is around  25 kilometers long. While the complicated underwater tunneling is done by Chinese, the rest of the work is done by South Koreans, via a consortium lead by Hyundai. The whole thing will cost 2 billion dollars.
