According to Slovenia media reports, Turkish company Cengiz has suspended the construction of the second tube of Karavanke tunnel. This decision has bee taken due to the coronavirus concerns.
After 2 tenders, appeals, cancellations, re-negotiations and almost 2 years passed, finally Cengiz was awarded with the Euro 120m contract to build the second tube of the Karavanke tunnel and around 2 months ago a contract had been signed between DARS (Slovenian Road Company) and Cengiz.
The #coronavirus epidemic and the ensuing restrictive measures have slowed down work on major infrastructural projects in #Slovenia. Work on the second tube of the Karavanke motorway tunnel is down to a minimum and the intensity of work on the new railway serving the port of Koper has been reduced.
