Oslo Municipality, Water and Wastewater Agency, has chosen TBM as the driving method for the 19 km long water supply tunnel to be operated from Holsfjorden in Lier to Huseby in Oslo with completion by the end of 2027. A water treatment plant will also be built in a new mountain hall at Huseby and connection to the existing water supply network in Oslo.

The tunnel will be bored with two TBMs (tunnel boring machines), one from each side. The diameter of the tunnel will be a minimum of 4.5 meters.

Pre-qualification of contractors for the Raw Water Tunnel starts in the fall of 2019, with an expected construction start  Q4 2020.
