Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation's (BMRCL) own geological investigation for Phase 2 boring reveals hard terrain to bore. Of the 14 kilometre route, 34% is hard and weathered rock, 46% soil and remaining 20% is mixed geology. Hard rocks encountered during Phase 1 boring caused delays although some experts say the geology with Phase 2 route is not as bed as Phase 1.
4 Of the 9 tunnel boring machines to be used have already arrived from China. BMRCL used 6 TBMs for the Phase 1 which took 5 years to complete. Slurry TBMs are used in Phase 2.

Because of COVID-19, Chinese engineers of CRCHI cannot travel to India to assemble the tunnel boring machine for the Bangalore subway Phase 2. The contractor Larsen & Toubro Limited started assembling with its own means meanwhile
L&T Limited started assembling of the parts of first TBM for tunneling of Bangalore Metro Phase 2 at Bamboo Bazaar near Cantonment railway station.
The dates are Aug. 15 for Green Line and Nov. 1 for Purple Line

BMRCL has resumed tunnel boring work for the second phase of Namma Metro. The TBMs have been deployed and testing is being conducted.
