Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation's (BMRCL) own geological investigation for Phase 2 boring reveals hard terrain to bore. Of the 14 kilometre route, 34% is hard and weathered rock, 46% soil and remaining 20% is mixed geology. Hard rocks encountered during Phase 1 boring caused delays although some experts say the geology with Phase 2 route is not as bed as Phase 1.

4 Of the 9 tunnel boring machines to be used have already arrived from China. BMRCL used 6 TBMs for the Phase 1 which took 5 years to complete. Slurry TBMs are used in Phase 2.
