The excavation of the second tube for Tenda Tunnel between Italy and France will restart today (18 June).
3182 metre long Tenda Tunnel is a road tunnel under the Colle di Tenda mountain passage between France and Italy. When it was opened in 1882, it was the longest tunnel in the whole world and it remained the longest road tunnel in Europe until 1964.

The new tube will have a track width of 6.50 meters (a lane of 3.50 meters, an emergency of 2.70 meters and a quay of 0.30 meters), while the existing tube will be assigned as the France-Italy direction and will be widened and expanded to the same size.
