BART Phase II – the six-mile, four-station project for  extending BART service into Downtown San Jose and Santa Clara is expected to cost approximately $6.5 billion by latest estimates. It is up from 2019's cost estimate of $5.6 billion.

VTA will be applying for the Expedited Project Delivery (EPD) with the hope of getting $1.7 billion. The Expedited Project Delivery (EPD) Pilot Program of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is a federal funding program that enables transit agencies to fast track the federal funding process for major projects.
