Supreme Court upholds permit for $8B pipeline under Appalachian Trail
The Supreme Court decides by a margin of 7-2 to upheld a permit for a controversial $8 billion gas pipeline tunnel below the Appalachian Trail. The 'Atlantic Coast Pipleline" will carry natural gas from West Virginia to North Carolina. It was challenged by environmental groups.
Update
Despite the recent US Supreme Court win, two energy companies who would build the controversial 'Atlantic Coast Pipleline" with a $8 billion gas pipeline tunnel below the Appalachian Trail have abandoned the project.
They cite "high costs and regulatory uncertainty behind their decision to discontinue the project."
