Together with the City of Copenhagen, Danish Ministry of Transport & Housing announced the metro and road plans in relation to the new island to be build to the east of Copenhagen called Lynetteholmen.

Copenhagen mayor Frank Jensen also emphasized the importance of the 10-11 kilometer long immersed road tunnel under Øresund. The new 4-lane road tunnel would connect Nordhavnen with the new island of Lynetteholmen and Amager. The new feasibility studiy maps the economy and effect of three different proposals for metro service and nine proposals for the routing of an Eastern Ring Road from Nordhavn to Amagermotorvejen or Øresundsmotorvejen at the airport.

Currently there are several issues to be resolved for this immersed tunnel plan. One is that actually the preliminary studies say that the immersed tunnel may affect the marine and aquatic environment.
