Martin Herrenknecht, the founder and the chief of Herrenknecht has disclosed something interesting on German press. He said that Elon Musk had wanted to buy a TBM from Herrenknecht in the past, but offered only 2 Million US dollars for a tunnel boring machine that costs 10 Million. Martin Herrenknecht said that Musk ended up buying a 20 year old TBM from someone else.

Furthermore, Martin Herrenknecht thinks that the planned high-speed tunnel by Musk is “a weak concept, the quality of the tunnel is also poor”. Not only that, he prefers to drive a Mercedes Benz electric car (only in the city. In the countryside, he prefers a combustion engine car) and he calls Tesla cars as the "cheap mill". Although he seems to be a fan of Daimler AG cars (read: Mercedes Benz), the is very skeptical of Daimler's cooperation with China and fears that Chinese made cars will flood Germany in future.

All these were reported at bw24.de, a publication that covers the things in Baden-Württemberg, a German region that borders France where headquarters of Herrenknecht located in Schwanau.
