Hamburger Energiewerke officially started construction of a new Elbe tunnel for district heating in the Waltershof district
The tunnel will be 1,160 meters long. NDR news writes that first 42 meters deep shafts will be excavated with a diaphragm wall excavator and then a tunnel boring machine (TBM) will be used to bore under the river.
