Bane Nor says the tunnel in Drammen was completed ahead of time and under budget and the project saving 100,000 tonnes of CO2.
The new Drammen tunnel, part of a new double track from Drammen to Kobbervikdalen. is almost 7 kilometers long and consists of around 6 km rock tunnel, 290 meters with loose mass tunnel and 540 meters of concrete tunnel writes Bane Nor website.
Bane Nor has used several innovations ranging from project management to technology. For example, Bane Nor has involved the contractors in design, so that the contractors are in peace with the design they are to implement. Or for example by measuring the temperature of the concrete with sensors, the curing time of the concrete could be halved.
Bane Nor required that low carbon concrete be used and contractor Veidekke has come up with solutions that significantly reduce the use of concrete, steel and cement.
