The Semmering-Tunnel between Vienna and Klagenfurt is in problems. In ORF, it is written that in April there was a water and rock collapse in the Semmering base tunnel - here, driving on the Lower Austrian side is still standing still, according to Christopher Seif from the ÖBB (National Railways of Austria) in mid-December: "We carry out test drilling, and when we have the results, we evaluate these results, and from these evaluations we then see which measures are to be implemented and to what extent".

“We have already built 45 percent of the entire tunnel system from 14 locations at the same time" says Self. “The mountain sets the framework for tunnel construction. We have to give the mountain time - and we do that, ”says ÖBB. The construction site is located in a geologically complex zone, it is said. How the layers of rock actually react to the construction work would only be seen in the mountain.
