Korea Institute of Construction Technology  (KICT) a government funded research institute under the National Research Council of Science & Technology of the Ministry of Science and ICT develop and commercialize a new generation tunnel reinforcement method give news ikld a Korea news site. The new tunnel reinforcement method will improve tunnel stability during excavation. Faster more economical.

Current method 'Lattice Girder' developed by Germans is very time consuming, very expensive and it is not future proof. Shotcrete cannot be filled in all places in lattice frames and there corrosion happens weakens tunnel structure.

KICT develop CFT (Concrete Filled Tube Structure). No need for welding. No shotcrete gaps left. It is more stability and robustness. CFT is commercialized TS Tech Co., Ltd.  In 2020 14 tunnels use it.
