Swedish Railways pushes for a tunnel from Landskrona to Copenhagen instead of between Helsingborg and Helsingør

An article in Denmark's Helsingør Dagblad writes that Helsingør-Helsingborg tunnel is not the favorite of everyone. The newspaper reports that the director of the SJ, the Swedish Railways thinks the Helsingør-Helsingborg tunnel should not be the only option and the Europaspåret (the so called 'European Track') should also be included in the option.

The proposed Europaspåret tunnel would be from Landskrona (halfway between Helsingborg and Malmo on Swedish side) to the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Interestingly it would be longer than the other  Øresund crossing, so called  'Fixed HH Link' between Helsingør and Helsingborg. The Europaspåret tunnel would be 19 kilometers long whereas the HH link tunnel would be 15 kilometers long.

According to the the director of the Swedish Railways and other proponents of the Europaspåret tunnel, a HH tunnel will not be much useful for the long distance rail traffic.  Their point is, once the trains cross

Øresund to Helsingør in Denmark, there is a need to accommodate both the long distance and local train traffic. There may not be track space to accomodate both.

He believes the Europaspåret tunnel option from Landskrona to Copenhagen will solve the long distance rail traffic and also take over load from Øresund bridge which is already saturated with road traffic.
