Sweden: State-owned Swedish train company SJ rejects the plans for an Øresund metro between Malmö and Copenhagen and an HH tunnel between Helsingborg and Helsingør

Both proposed Denmark-Sweden fixed-link railway plans are rejected by the state-owned Swedish train company SJ.  The first proposal was the Øresund metro between Malmö and Copenhagen and the second the "HH tunnel" between Helsingborg and Helsingør.

SJ's managing director Monica Lingegård says in an interview that it is not possible to run run long-distance trains and freight trains in a metro or in an HH tunnel. Instead, she proposes to build another fixed connection across the Øresund, which can handle heavy railway traffic.

She also points out the general criticism that the railway infrastructure in both sides of the water are not ready to handle the proposed tunnel traffic.
