Seoul Jemulport Tunnel open on April 16
On April 16 the 7.53 km-long underground tunnel below Jemulpo Road, which leads from Shinwoel Interchange open. It has 4 lanes. It is very deep. 70 meter underground. Deepest in Korea.
Build-transfer-operate (BTO) tunnel project built by Seoul Tunnel Co. Ltd. consortium and Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG).
Seoul Tunnel Co. Ltd. consortium leader is Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd. With Hyundai E&C, GS E&C, Hyundai Amco, Kumho Industrial, Lotte E&C, Dongkwang Construction Co. and Gyeongnam Enterprise.
Project cost 454.6 billion won. Original plan for completion was 2020. But pandemic delayed it.
