Singapore: Alleged bribe taker LTA officials were planning to use rectangular TBM (RTMB) from accused Chinese company

    Trial of Land Transport Authority and some company officials. Company officials accused of bribing LTA officials to further their business interests in Singapore. The alleged bribe takers were considering using the engineering companys rectangular tunnel boring machine (RTMB) in the construction of the Thomson-East Coast Line tunnel construction.

    China Railway Tunnel Group (Singapore Branch) is facing three graft charges, allegedly for loaning amounts to LTA official Henry Foo Yung Thye.

    Henry Foo Yung Thye wa former deputy group director of Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) admitted taking a bribe of $1.24 million as "loans" from contractors and sub-contractors.

    Henry Foo Yung Thye has been sentenced to 5.5 years' jail on Thursday (2 September) in addition to a monetary penalty of $1,156,250.
