Australia: Sinkhole opens above M6 tunnel construction in Sydney

Workers have noticed falling debris while working 18 meters under the sinkhole and immediately exited the in-construction tunnel to safety.

A two story industrial building right on the sinkhole has sagged and on the brink of collapse. Probably saved by so far thanks to its steel-construction method used.

The M6 motorway and tunnels are being built by the CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors and UGL, in a joint venture with Italy's Ghella, to deliver stage 1 of Sydney’s M6 motorway
