A consortium of Alstom, Indra and Constructora San José wins the tender for the ventilation and other safety of the Pajares variant reports elcomercio. The Pajares variant is a section of the León-Asturias high-speed train line to connect that will connect the plateau with Asturias. La Robla and Pola de Lena has been built in 2004.

According to Elcomercio, the work has been put for bidding in January for a value of 89,4m and 17 companies placed bids. The most important element of the work is the safety work for the 24.7 kilometer long tunnel. In turn most important element is the tunnel ventilation. Altitude difference makes ventilation a serious problem for which designers considered several options. At the end they decided to use 72 fans each with a diameter of 1,2 meters.
