Thane builds 2,7km Twin Tunnels for 6 lane Airoli-Katai Freeway
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will crown the 6-lane Airoli-Katai freeway in Thane of Maharastra state with a tunnel. The tunnel will have twin 1,7 kilometer tunnel tubes each having 3 lanes. Two tubes will be separated by 10 meters will also have emergency passages between each other at regular distances.
The freeway will shorten the travel time between Thane and Mumbai.
The construction work of the second tunnel (1.68 km long twin tunnel) of Airoli-Katai freeway began on Thursday.
