Normet’s battery electric tunnelling sprayers leading the way to healthier, safer and more sustainable spraying operations

Normet’s battery electric SmartDrive product family provides high productivity with decreased operating cost and zero local emissions. Normet’s Spraymec 8100 VC SD tunnelling sprayer combines Normet’s decades long spraying process expertise with the latest battery electric technology, making it the state-of-the-art concrete sprayer. It uses the latest Li-Ion battery technology and charges the batteries from the same AC-socket used to power the spraying process. Spraymec 8100 VC SD is also equipped with Normet remote driving system for safe and easy relocation of the machine, which works with the same remote control that is used for spraying.

The first battery electric sprayer in Australia

Normet’s Spraymec 8100 VC SD, Australia’s first and to date only battery electric sprayer, was delivered to the tunnelling project in Sydney in October 2020, when the unit was effectively introduced into active operation, and it has been working on the site since then.

The customer is pleased with the introduction process and the equipment performance to date. Project maintenance and equipment superintendent has stated “Based on the observations so far, in retrospect, if SmartDrive would have been available at the time of award of the equipment supply contract, the fleet would look very different today.”

Normet’s battery electric sprayer operating in tunnelling project with focus on fossil free work site in Norway

Another first is Spraymec 8100 VC SD which was delivered to Agder Group to work as a rental equipment for LNS’s tunnelling project​. This project has a high focus on fossil free work site (zero emissions) and most of the cars, delivery vans and minibuses in the project are also battery driven. This is the first battery electric sprayer in Europe, and the second one will be delivered to same work site soon. ​
